5 email myths you can stop believing now

Everyone has a different email ritual.

Maybe you send emails early in the morning, or late at night. Maybe you create insanely long subject lines or militaristically short ones. Maybe you CC as many people as possible in hope of eliciting a response. You stay steadfast in your superstition — but what if you could know for sure what really works?

Your First Email Marketing Campaign

Email is a powerful way to reach prospects, especially when used in combination with cold calling. Your first campaign will be the most difficult one to pull together as you're starting from scratch, but the good news is that once you come up with a campaign that works, you'll be able to recycle the pieces in future successful campaigns.

The first step in launching a campaign is collecting information from your audience. You want your message to be appealing and interesting for your recipients, not something they toss straight into the junk mail folder without reading it. The best source of such information is your existing customers. Pick out a few of your very best customers – the ones who are most like your ideal prospect – and ask them some questions about what they like to see in a marketing email.

Email Prospecting That Gets Results

Cold calling over the phone is still the most common way to reach out to leads, but cold emailing has become increasingly popular (as well as increasingly effective). You probably won't be able to completely replace your phone calls with email prospecting, but once you get the hang of crafting cold emails you'll be able to cut way down on your dialing.

The first major hurdle to overcome is getting your lead to read the email in the first place. Writing an evocative subject line is crucial. When your email arrives in someone's inbox, the first thing he sees is the subject line – and if the subject screams “salesperson” he won't even bother to open it. He doesn't know you, so your email address won't mean anything to him; the only thing he has to judge you on at this point is the email subject.

How to Keep Your Email Campaign Out of Your Prospect's Spam Folder

Email marketing, or e-marketing, is a great way to reach prospects. You can send out emails without having all the costs associated with regular direct mail – costs like printing, envelope-stuffing and postage. The major drawback to e-marketing is that it's hard to be sure that your email even reaches the recipient. With direct mail your prospect will at least glance at the mailing before tossing it. With e-marketing, the messages can end up snagged by an automated spam filter and never make it to the prospect's inbox. It pays to do a little extra work and make your emails less likely to be flagged as spam.

Benefits of Email Marketing for Export Marketing

We’ve been working with a lot of clients who are exporting to develop and implement their digital marketing strategies to help them expand globally. One of the main methods that can be used is email marketing.

Recent research from the Marketing Institute of Ireland into email marketing revealed that 84% of businesses surveyed consider it an important or very important component of their overall marketing strategy. The study also revealed “80% of respondents expect that spend on email marketing will either stay the same (42.7%) or increase (37.1%) over the next 12 months. This reflects the positive sentiments being shown towards email by Irish marketers today”.

But why are these businesses so keen?
