Benefits of Email Marketing for Export Marketing

We’ve been working with a lot of clients who are exporting to develop and implement their digital marketing strategies to help them expand globally. One of the main methods that can be used is email marketing.

Recent research from the Marketing Institute of Ireland into email marketing revealed that 84% of businesses surveyed consider it an important or very important component of their overall marketing strategy. The study also revealed “80% of respondents expect that spend on email marketing will either stay the same (42.7%) or increase (37.1%) over the next 12 months. This reflects the positive sentiments being shown towards email by Irish marketers today”.

But why are these businesses so keen?

How Email Can Expedite the Sales Process

Too often a sales cycle will get bogged down at one or more points. A prospect may need an approval from a higher-up, may need to wait until the funding is available, or may simply want more time to think things through. Using email throughout the sales process can help avoid these delays or at least minimize them.

After you first speak with a prospect (which will usually happen as part of a cold call), send her a brief email that includes the date, time and place you've agreed on for your sales appointment. Not only does this help cut down on “oops, I forgot about you” on the day of the meeting, it also gives you an opportunity to include a link or two in your email that provides useful and interesting information. You might link an article on a topic you discussed during the cold call, or a document that relates to the prospect's business. This helps you to get off on the right foot with her and also to begin building your reputation as a helpful, experienced contact.

The Best Birthday Promotional Email Ever …

Today is my birthday, and in between taking some time off – I can’t help noticing which brands happen to send me emails today (of the many who have my birthdate on file).  The one from California Tortilla was easily the best of the group, so I thought I’d share it here (see below) – along with five reasons it was so good …
  1. Brand personality was great, quirky, and on brand for “CalTort.”
  2. Tempting product image makes you crave that free burrito right away.
  3. Limited offer that expires, so I need to act soon to redeem (but with a joke about the expiration).
  4. Clear and valuable gift of a free burrito instead of 10% off or some other more vague offer.
  5. Seamless redemption because the offer is preloaded onto my loyalty card so no coupon required.

Email Marketing Advertising for the Growth of Your Business

I know what you’re thinking: “Email marketing has been around forever – I get 23 marketing emails every day.” Our overflowing in-boxes are proof that email is used (overused) by many companies.

Why should you still consider this for your business?

Using Email to Introduce a New Agency Service - 5 Tips to Get Better Results

Recently I offered to review an email sent by BayCreative, an Inbound Marketing Agency in the Bay Area, to introduce a new service to a former client. The email was representative of many I’ve seen agencies use when doing so.  Below, with the agency's permission, I’ve shared the email along with some thoughts and recommendations for turning what is not a bad email, but one with a low chance of success, into one that can gain significantly better results.

Read the email below and put yourself in the shoes of the recipient, a business owner who has done business with the agency in the past. (Note that actual identifying prospect information has been modified.)

4 Tips to Avoid Work-From-Home Email Scams

It’s no secret that jobs that allow you to work from home are on the rise, but as their popularity grows, so do inventive ways to dupe job seekers. Get-rich-quick offers and promises of lots of money for very little work should immediately put your guard up. If you haven’t already, familiarize yourself with what a standard job posting looks like.

Legitimate jobs are looking for specific skill sets and job requirements, and do not over-promise. Too many “$$$$” or “!!!!!” should forewarn you it’s not likely a trustworthy opportunity. As you pursue your dream of a “shoes optional” position, keep an eye out for these sneaky tactics.

How to Ask for an Appointment in an Email Cold Call

Why is it better? The person on the other end feels like they're talking to a human being, not a salesperson. It reduces their defensive responses and opens them to actually talking with you -- just like you're talking to them.

But enough of my pontificating. You need to read what he wrote:

Unsubscribe Me You Bully: 4 Common Email Marketing Mistakes that Lead to Unsubscribes

When I get unwanted and unsolicited emails from someone I don’t know, the first thing I do is look for the unsubscribe link. Yet, I’m still struggling with the fact that often when I’ve asked to be “unsubscribed,” an email somehow manages to sneak through to my inbox. This is when I start to doubt myself, “wait a minute, I thought I unsubscribed last time, but maybe I didn’t?” So, I continue to keep hitting the unsubscribe button, but somehow, “they” [a restaurant, store, blog, etc.] don’t really seem to grasp the concept of unsubscribing. And the reason I unsubscribe to half of these in the first place is because I am no longer interested in what they have to say because it’s either always the same stuff, or it is stuff I am not interested in learning about.

Why List Segmentation Matters in Email Marketing

Recently I came across an online retailer who added me to their email list since I attended an event at one of their stores. Besides being angry that they opted me in without giving the ok, it got me thinking about how most online retailers do not think through the process of email marketing. In their eyes they want to get as many email addresses as possible and blast away. What better way to set yourself up for poor data and reporting.

Email Marketing Tips

Email is a great way to reach out to new prospects, existing prospects and customers alike. You can reach a huge number of people at once with email, as opposed to communicating with them one by one over the phone. However, email has a major drawback – it's easy for the recipient to delete it without even reading your carefully crafted message. So to get real value from your email marketing, you'll need to prepare emails that will pique the prospect's interest enough to delay that itchy 'delete' finger.

Email Verification Can Drastically Change The Bottom Line

For many companies the email marketing campaign has become the cornerstone of their outbound marketing plans. This type of campaign coupled with other marketing tools help compete for sales and a better bottom line. Email marketing has changed significantly as it has become easier to procure email addresses with the implementation of social networking programs, acquiring email addresses at point-of-sale in retail locations, optimized landing pages, and with most customers participation on the Internet.

Activate Instant Login Access Alerts for High Server Security

Do you know when unauthorised users login to access your server? Do you disable email alerts from your Webhosting server just because the repeated emails keep cluttering your email inbox? While most managed hosting providers offer to disable server e-mails, these automated email alerts which you get from your server are very important for server security and to keep your web hosting account and website safe from hackers

Instant Login Access Alert

Whenever anyone logs in to our server, via WHM or Cpanel, an instant e-mail alert is sent out with login details like exact time, IP addresses, and authentication method of the user. For example, these are e-mails we instantly receive when our tech support guy enters root password to gain access to our server to sort some technical hosting issues. [Side tip: it also helps to know when exactly tech support logs in to act on your support ticket]

6 Things That Make This the Most Effective Email Ever Sent

You receive 77 emails everyday. (Well, according to the The Radicati Group, anyway. Doesn’t it feel like they under-shot that by roughly half?)

Today, I received the email pictured above, from CARE–which I believe is the most effective email ever sent–to me anyway.

First, some background: I am a CARE Ambassador, so I am helpless to the message. I spent time with them in Africa, and it changed me in every way a person can be changed. While there, a mother asked if I would drink the same cholera-infected water she had to give her baby girl (who was the same age as my baby girl). I started weeping, right there, in front of 100 people–with documentary film cameras rolling. The day after I returned home, I sold my new Aston Martin (monolithic testament to testosterone) and made a monolithic donation to CARE.

Breathing Life Into Your New Business’ Email Strategy

If your business is new, when you are building your online marketing strategy, your Email campaign is very important for your success. When it comes to Email, if you don’t get it right initially, you may have problems later on.

The purpose of the Email campaign in the infancy of your business is to motivate prospective clients to seriously consider buying from you instead of one of your competitors when they are ready to make a purchase of some kind. It is well known that people will only buy a product or service from someone whom they trust and whom they find credible. If you build a strong and solid Email campaign and you strengthen the relationships that you have managed to establish, you will be positioning yourself as a subject matter expert (SME) in your niche and industry. If you build and follow a plan that goes by solid and sensible principles, you can’t go wrong.

Choosing the Right Medium for the Message

Email is a magnificent communication tool—but not in all circumstances. Many conversations call for different—and better—communication choices.
When Is Email the Right Medium?

Email is the right communication medium for matters of relatively low importance. It’s great for sharing information. It’s awful for important conversations.
